BS-468 RJ45 and RJ11 Network Cable Tester with Detachable Remote Unit

BS-468 RJ45 and RJ11 Network Cable Tester with Detachable Remote Unit

The BS-468 RJ45 and RJ11 Network Cable Tester is a network cable tester built around a detachable remote unit, used to verify that RJ45 and RJ11 cables are wired correctly end to end. As a result, it catches a bad or mis-punched cable in seconds instead of leaving it to cause a mystery connectivity problem later.

BS-468 RJ45 and RJ11 Network Cable Tester – How It Works

The tester sends a signal down each individual wire pair inside the cable while the detachable remote unit, plugged into the far end, lights up a corresponding sequence of LEDs to confirm each pin connects straight through. Because the remote unit detaches and can be carried to the far end of a long run, one person can test a cable already installed through a wall or ceiling without needing a second person holding the other end. In addition, since the LED sequence reveals opens, shorts, and reversed or crossed pairs individually, the BS-468 points to exactly which pin is faulty rather than just reporting a generic pass or fail.

Key Features

• Tests RJ45 (network) and RJ11 (phone) cables
• Detachable remote unit for long cable runs
• LED-per-pin fault indication
• Detects opens, shorts, and miswiring

Typical Applications

• Verifying network cable installations
• Troubleshooting intermittent network connections
• Telephone line continuity testing

Specifications

• Model: BS-468
• Connector types: RJ45, RJ11
• Remote unit: detachable

Cable testers of this type follow standard structured-cabling test conventions documented by bodies like BICSI. Always test a cable at both ends after crimping a new connector, because a connector that looks properly seated can still have one wire not making full contact. It also helps to replace the tester’s battery as soon as the LEDs start dimming, since a weak battery can produce a false “pass” reading on a genuinely faulty pair.

BS-468 RJ45 and RJ11 Network Cable Tester –
