This is a micro limit switch with a ball-tipped actuator, a small mechanical switch that detects the physical position of a moving part and triggers an electrical contact change.

Its internal spring-loaded snap-action mechanism produces a fast, clean electrical contact change (rather than a slow, bounce-prone one) as soon as the ball-tipped lever is pressed past its trip point, with the rounded ball tip specifically reducing friction and wear against the moving part that actuates it compared to a flat or roller-tipped lever.

The ball tip is chosen specifically when the actuating part approaches at a slight angle or with a rolling/sliding motion, reducing mechanical wear compared to lever styles better suited to straight-on actuation.
