The BA6439 (Rohm) is a 3-phase DD (direct-drive) motor driver IC, part of the same functional family as the BA6433 also in this catalog, used to control brushless DC motors.

BA6439 – How It Works

Like the BA6433, it generates the sequenced 3-phase drive signals needed to spin a brushless DC motor smoothly and precisely, with built-in protection circuitry, commonly found driving the head drum or capstan motors in VCR mechanisms where smooth, jitter-free rotation is essential.

It works alongside the BA6304 FG speed servo controller also in this catalog in a complete VCR motor system — one chip provides the raw 3-phase drive, the other maintains precise closed-loop speed regulation.
