Aluminum U-Shape Heatsink TO-220 – How It Works

Heat generated inside a TO-220 transistor or regulator conducts through its metal tab into the U-shaped aluminium body of this heatsink, which measures 20x19x10mm and exposes far more surface area to the air than the bare component alone.
