High Performance Thermal Grease

High Performance Thermal Grease

The High Performance Thermal Grease is a Generic thermal compound, applied between a CPU, GPU, or power component and its heatsink to fill the microscopic air gaps left by even the flattest-looking metal surfaces. As a result, heat transfers into the heatsink far more efficiently than it would across bare metal alone.

High Performance Thermal Grease – How It Works

Under magnification, both a CPU’s heat-spreader and a heatsink’s base are covered in tiny surface irregularities that trap air, and because air conducts heat poorly, that trapped air normally blocks a large share of the heat from ever reaching the heatsink. This Generic compound displaces that air by flowing into every microscopic gap, giving heat a continuous, thermally conductive path from the chip straight into the heatsink’s metal. In addition, since applying too much paste can trap air bubbles just as effectively as applying none, spreading a thin, even layer is what actually delivers the lower temperatures this compound is capable of.

Key Features

• Brand: Generic High-Performance Grease
• High thermal conductivity formula
• Suitable for CPUs, GPUs, and power semiconductors
• Non-conductive, safe around circuit boards

Typical Applications

• CPU and GPU heatsink reapplication
• Power transistor and voltage regulator cooling
• General electronics thermal management

Specifications

• Type: thermal interface compound
• Brand/model: Generic High-Performance Grease
• Packaging: syringe

Thermal compounds in this class are formulated similarly to reference products documented by ARCTIC. Clean off any old, dried-out paste with isopropyl alcohol before applying a fresh layer, because old compound left underneath a new layer traps air just as badly as no paste at all. It also helps to use only a pea-sized or thin-line amount, since more paste doesn’t mean better cooling once the gap between surfaces is already filled. Consequently, letting the compound cure for a short period after the first power-on, as some formulas recommend, can further improve how evenly it spreads under mounting pressure.

High Performance Thermal Grease

High Performance Thermal Grease –

Generic High-Performance Grease

Generic High-Performance Grease
